To ensure the best fit, please measure your dog's neck and chest before ordering.

Neck Opening

Measure around the base of your dog's neck. As the neck opening is fixed, your dog's head and neck must comfortably fit through it.

Chest Circumference

Measure around the widest part of your dog's chest, just behind the front legs.

X Small (XS)

  • Neck Opening: 27 cm
  • Adjustable Chest Circumference: Approximately 31–38 cm
  • Suitable for: Yorkshire Terrier, Maltese, Pomeranian, Toy Poodle

Small (S)

  • Neck Opening: 32 cm
  • Adjustable Chest Circumference: Approximately 39–50 cm
  • Suitable for: Shih Tzu, Mini Dachshund, Jack Russell Terrier, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

Medium (M)

  • Neck Opening: 35 cm
  • Adjustable Chest Circumference: Approximately 49–66 cm
  • Suitable for: Welsh Corgi, Beagle, English Cocker Spaniel, Cockapoo

  • A correctly fitted harness should allow you to comfortably fit two fingers between the harness and your dog.

When cleaning your dog harness or other pet accessories, we recommend a soft hand wash, avoid scrubbing. Lay flat to air dry.

Print Pattern Placement

Due to the nature of the fabric we use, African Prints, the placements of ALL print placements vary considerably, and product pictures are only a reference guide of the unique prints.

No two products will ever be the same. It will be a complete waste of fabrics trying to accommodate each customer's requirement. As such, we do NOT offer custom fabric placements.

Caution

Please always make sure your dogs are supervised when wearing any pet accessory. If your pet is at home or left alone, it is advised that our Pet Accessories should NOT be worn.

Please note that like all human accessories, dog accessories are subject to wear and tear and it is the responsibility of the owner to keep an eye on the condition to make sure it is safe for their pup to wear.

Dog Harness FAQs

How do I choose the right harness size?

To ensure the best fit, measure both your dog's neck and chest before ordering.

  • Neck Opening: Measure around the base of your dog's neck. As the neck opening is fixed, it should be approximately2–4 cm larger than your dog's neck measurement to ensure the harness slips comfortably over your dog's head without being too loose.
  • Chest Circumference: Measure around the widest part of your dog's chest, just behind the front legs.

Compare both measurements with our size guide. If your dog is between sizes or has a broader chest, we recommend choosing the larger size. If you're unsure which size to choose, please get in touch—we're always happy to help.

Which breeds are your harnesses suitable for?

Our harnesses are designed for small to medium-sized dogs and are available in XS, S and M.

As a guide, our sizes are generally suitable for:

  • XS: Yorkshire Terrier, Maltese, Pomeranian and Toy Poodle.
  • S: Shih Tzu, Mini Dachshund, Jack Russell Terrier and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
  • M: Welsh Corgi, Beagle, English Cocker Spaniel and Cockapoo.

Please note that these breeds are provided as a guide only. Dogs of the same breed can vary considerably in size, so we always recommend measuring your dog's neck and chest and comparing the measurements with our size guide before ordering.

What if my dog is between sizes?

If your dog is between sizes or has a broader chest, we recommend choosing the larger size for a more comfortable fit.

If you're unsure which size is best, or your dog falls outside our standard size range, please get in touch before placing your order. We may be able to create a custom-sized harness to better suit your dog's measurements. Please note that custom sizing is subject to feasibility and may incur an additional charge.

Do you offer Large or X-Large harnesses?

At the moment, our harnesses are available in X-SMALL, SMALL and MEDIUM only. We have chosen not to offer larger sizes because bigger and stronger dogs place significantly greater forces on a harness during everyday use.

Until we have developed and thoroughly tested a design that meets our standards for durability, strength and safety, we won't offer Large or X-Large harnesses. We would rather provide a smaller range we have complete confidence in than compromise on quality or your dog's safety.

What is the neck opening?

The neck opening is the fixed opening your dog's head passes through before fastening the harness around the chest.

Does the neck opening adjust?

No. The neck opening is fixed for comfort and security. Only the chest strap is adjustable.

My dog's breed is listed, but the measurements don't match. Which should I follow

Always use your dog's measurements rather than breed. Dogs of the same breed can vary in size, so measuring your dog is the best way to ensure the correct fit.

Can I use this harness for puppies?

Yes, as long as your puppy's measurements match one of our sizes. Because puppies grow quickly, we recommend measuring before every purchase.

Is the harness suitable for cats?

No. Our harness has been designed specifically for dogs.

Is the harness adjustable?

Yes. The chest strap is adjustable to help achieve a comfortable and secure fit.

Is every harness handmade?

Yes. Every BHOOKI harness is handmade in the UK. As each item is handcrafted, please allow for a small variation of approximately 1–2 cm due to sewing tolerances.

What material is the harness made from?

Our harnesses are handmade using premium African print fabric, durable webbing, soft padding for comfort, and durable hardware for everyday walks.
